Francine Kiefer, West Coast Bureau Chief for The Christian Science Monitor, Joins LAPC Board of Directors

The Los Angeles Press Club board has appointed a new member, Francine Kiefer from The Christian Science Monitor.

Kiefer is the West Coast bureau chief for The Christian Science Monitor and her coverage has received three first-prize awards from the Los Angeles Press Club. Prior to her West Coast post, Kiefer reported for the Monitor from Washington, first as a White House correspondent covering the administrations of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush and most recently as a congressional correspondent. In 1989, Francine reported on the fall of the Berlin Wall as the Monitor’s correspondent in Germany.

Kiefer also worked for nearly five years as the National Editor for The San Jose Mercury News in California’s Silicon Valley. She holds a BA in English literature from Smith College and an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Goucher College.

Kiefer replaces Scott Feinberg who is stepping down from the board. We thank him for his service to the LAPC.
